Staircases

Whether a stylish part of the building or a healthy alternative to the elevators, staircases are sensitive areas with special safety concerns. At a minimum, staircase flooring will have to contribute to noise reduction and provide a slip-resistant grip. Accessibility can be improved with contrasting colours and structured stair noses and in the case of a fire escape stairwell, the floor will also need to comply with fire regulations.
