Popular interior design trends
Major interior design styles found in homes today include Scandinavian, mid-century modern, rustic, industrial, urban, country, minimalist, traditional, bohemian, vintage, modern, and contemporary. The basic elements of these styles remain constant. However, how you replicate them in your home will vary depending on your personal style preference as well as on current design trends.
From furniture to decorations, changing trends influence everything designed for our homes. These trends offer new perspectives on existing styles. They provide new ways to update your existing decor or, if renovating, to adopt one of the major design-styles and apply a modern-day twist to it.
Current design trends
With a focus on well-being, Tarkett’s four interior design trends for 2020 acknowledge one's desire to reconnect with our environment and to live in harmony with oneself and with others. Recognising that well-being also exists through emotions, sensations and behaviours, the 2020 design trends also pays tribute to one’s sense of adventure and cultural exploration, and the resulting patchwork of memories and objects that we collect along the way.
Here is a look at the four design trends that inspired Tarkett’s current flooring collections.
• Bohemian Explorer
This design trend is brought to life through a collection of found and hand-made objects, and materials that evoke pleasant memories and emotions. Bohemian Explorer embraces a mysterious and intense colour palette of deep, spicy shades of ruby, sensual umber, magma red, and deep blue.
Our Bohemian Explorer inspired collections combine the past and the present, the traditional and the modern, to produce flooring products that perfectly complement a range of interior design styles including vintage, bohemian, rustic, urban and industrial design styles.
• Majestic Nature
Our Majestic Nature design trend beautifully depicts how to achieve a harmonious balance between the indoors and outdoors. It’s brought to life with sustainable materials such as wood and textiles such as linen. It comprises a colour palette of basic beige and earth tones, combined with the heat of yellow ochre and intense greens that reflect a pure and organic nature.
Our Majestic Nature inspired collections create a natural and soft ambience by combining sustainable materials with natural materials and textiles, ceramics and dried vegetation compositions.
• Breathe
Our Breathe design trend beautifully captures the essence of minimalism. It takes form, colour, and space and reduces them to their essential nature. Breathe conveys airy and bright spaces and a sense of freedom, and weightlessness. It comprises a colour palette of natural shades, both light and soft and including cool and warm greys softened by aqua and nude tones.
Our Breathe inspired collections combine simplicity and elegance to produce flooring products that perfectly complement a range of interior design styles, including Scandinavian, modern, and minimalistic design styles.
• Good Vibes
Our Good Vibes design trend communicates optimism, positive attitudes, creativity and challenge. Playing with colours, messages, fashion, and graphics, this trend allows you to express your sense of fun and playfulness. Good Vibes comprises a vibrant palette of saturated or translucent colours including red, white, black and denim blue, contrasted with cool grey and with colourful accents like menthol green and acidulous pink.
